TradeStation multi-account order entry in TraderDesk

TraderDesk connects to TradeStation through its trading API using an API key, secret and OAuth sign-in. It can route stocks, ETFs, listed options and futures where your TradeStation account has the permissions. A simulation account is the right place to test the connection before sending live orders.

What routes

What can you route on TradeStation?

Stocks, options and futures, subject to permissions. Segments below are the ones the current build shows. Your account still needs the permissions and data subscriptions the broker requires.

SpotOptionsFutures
  • US stocks and ETFs through the TradeStation trading API.
  • Listed options, subject to account approval.
  • Futures where the account has futures permissions and data entitlements.
  • Simulation and live accounts, added as separate connections.

Setup

How to connect TradeStation to TraderDesk

Four steps. The exact labels differ in the broker's dashboard, but the sequence is the same.

  1. 01

    Create a developer app

In the TradeStation developer portal, create an application to receive the API key and secret.

  2. 02

    Authorise the connection

Complete the OAuth sign-in so TraderDesk can act on the accounts you approve.

  3. 03

    Add simulation first

Connect a simulation account and confirm balances and order permissions before adding live credentials.

  4. 04

    Check futures and data

Futures and some markets need extra agreements and market-data subscriptions. Confirm them in TradeStation.

Before you go live

  • TradeStation API access and market-data entitlements depend on your account and agreements.
  • Futures permissions are separate from equities and options.
  • OAuth tokens can expire, and you may need to reauthorise the connection.
  • TradeStation may apply its own order-type and routing rules.

Multi-account

Can you trade several TradeStation accounts at once?

Add each account as its own connection, then tick the accounts you want on the order ticket. Each account reports its own result, so a rejection on one does not hide the outcome on another.

  • Every account has its own label on the order ticket.
  • The send button states how many accounts will receive the order.
  • Results are shown per account after the order is sent.
  • Risk limits are applied before routing, on your PC.

TradeStation questions

Common TradeStation questions

What credentials does TradeStation need?

An API key and secret from a TradeStation developer application, plus an OAuth authorisation for the accounts you want to use.

Can I test with a TradeStation simulation account?

Yes. Add the simulation account as its own connection and test the order flow there before adding live credentials.

Why are futures missing from my TradeStation connection?

Futures require separate permissions and agreements on the TradeStation account. Confirm the approval and the market-data subscription with TradeStation.

Does the connection expire?

OAuth authorisations can expire or be revoked. If orders stop routing, reauthorise the application and reconnect the account.
