MetaTrader 5 multi-account orders in TraderDesk

TraderDesk can connect to MetaTrader 5 accounts using the login, password and server for an MT5 terminal running on the same PC. It routes forex and CFD orders where your broker offers them. MT5 is generally not available to US retail forex clients, so confirm your broker, region and account type before relying on this connection.

What routes

What can you route on MetaTrader 5?

Forex and CFDs where your broker offers them. Segments below are the ones the current build shows. Your account still needs the permissions and data subscriptions the broker requires.

ForexCFDs
  • Forex and CFD orders where your MT5 broker offers them.
  • Several MT5 accounts, each with its own login and server.
  • The MT5 terminal running locally on the same Windows PC.
  • Per-account results after a multi-account order.

Setup

How to connect MetaTrader 5 to TraderDesk

Four steps. The exact labels differ in the broker's dashboard, but the sequence is the same.

  1. 01

    Install and open MetaTrader 5

Install the MT5 terminal from your broker and sign in to the account you want to use.

  2. 02

    Enable automated trading

In MT5, allow automated trading in the terminal options. The setting is required for the connection to send orders.

  3. 03

    Add the account in TraderDesk

Enter the login, password and server exactly as your broker supplied them, then label the account.

  4. 04

    Test on a demo account

Use an MT5 demo account first. Confirm the symbol suffixes and contract sizes before sending a live order.

Before you go live

  • MT5 is generally not offered to US retail forex clients. Availability depends on your broker, region and account type.
  • Your broker must permit API or automated order flow on the account.
  • CFDs are not available to US retail clients.
  • Symbol names, contract sizes and suffixes differ by broker; check them before sizing an order.
  • The MT5 terminal must be running for the connection to work.

Multi-account

Can you trade several MetaTrader 5 accounts at once?

Add each account as its own connection, then tick the accounts you want on the order ticket. Each account reports its own result, so a rejection on one does not hide the outcome on another.

  • Every account has its own label on the order ticket.
  • The send button states how many accounts will receive the order.
  • Results are shown per account after the order is sent.
  • Risk limits are applied before routing, on your PC.

MetaTrader 5 questions

Common MetaTrader 5 questions

Can US traders use MT5 with TraderDesk?

MT5 is generally not offered to US retail forex clients. Availability depends on your broker and region. TraderDesk does not provide brokerage services and does not claim US retail availability.

Why does the MT5 connection fail?

Check that the terminal is running, the login, password and server match exactly, and automated trading is enabled. Your broker may also need to permit API access.

Why is my MT5 symbol missing?

Brokers use different symbol names and suffixes. Enable the symbol in Market Watch and use the broker's exact name when you search in TraderDesk.

Can I connect more than one MT5 account?

Yes. Add each account with its own login and server, then select the ones you want on the order ticket.
